The damned pine weasels are in my ceiling, between the shingles, These bastards make a ruckus all night into the morning and I think one has brass nuts because he drags them across the ceiling.

LL brought over a catch box, 2 weeks later and nothing. We have a sloped ceiling with our headboard being about 3 feet from all the ruckus.

I want to set up some wire snares to catch/kill them. Don't know how it will go over with the neighbors if they see marders hanging off the eaves of the house.

Is there some type of game warden we can call for this problem or do I have to hear the marder version of the honeymooners every night?

LMAO!

Been there done that for 8 years. Nothing helped plus they are protected by law. I was so happy when we moved !!!!!

Emma --- 12 years ago -

We had a whole family of the things for like 4 months. LL kept saying we had to live with it. But the situation was crazy and we threatened to move out. LL put poisoned bait in the attic. Yes it's illegal, and I would have much preferred if they could have trapped and removed them, but it worked.

Maybe try putting dog hair up there? I know they are scared of the smell of dogs and some people had success putting dog hair in their car engine areas to keep them from nesting there. I've sprinkled dog hair all around the exterior of our house and driveway and haven't seen evidence of them, but have seen them near the neighbor's house. Good luck, that sounds really annoying!

Well, I made some jungle juice concoction I found on the internet for racoons and last night I sprayed the area and no noise from the bastards!

Coincidence? maybe. Tonight will be a good test to see if it works.

Juice:
-cayenne pepper
-jalapeno powder
-chopped up onion

boil and strain, put into squirt bottle.

Notice: make sure the jungle juice is fully washed off hands before proceeding to take a leak. I was screaming "it burns, it burns" like the exorcist!

Where's Kara on this? I'm offended that somebody would want to kill a varmint! This topic should be deleted! What would Jesus do? Or even Rodney King. Can't we just all get along! Jeez, we can talk about killing animals on Ramstein Underground but not have an adult conversation concerning extramarital affairs. lol

How'd it go balboa? I've heard of people peeing on their car tires to car them away. Not sure smelling pee all night would be much better than your current situation. :P There are sprays and electronic gadgets to keep them away, too.

Why would anyone wanna kill something so cute?

Nicksdad --- 12 years ago -

Just read an article from last week's AutoBild - they say that sprays don't really work very well and the best way to keep them away is with this electric gadget that costs around 130 euro that turns your engine compartment into an electric fence. Hopefully there's a way to shut it off when checking oil level etc.

Well, those little devil bastards came back last night. I know they have gadgets for the car but this is in the ceiling of a house.

German electrical wiring is already a little cooky and me trying to create an electric chair in the ceiling is probably not a good idea. Think I'll wait for the LL to come back from vacation and go up and put some chicken wire across known entry points.

Knowing that they can squeeze trough a 2 inch hole is not comforting. I also thought of running a work light into their den and turning it on when they start making a racket.

That might just turn it into a marder disco den, dont wanna hear little marder "woo woo's" in the middle of the night.

I had a big stone barn next to our old house and the owner would patch up holes with yellow foam that dries in place every couple yrs to keep the marders from scaling the walls and entering in alongthe roof line.

I know! They are so soft and adorable, I just want to cuddle them ^_^

put some chicken wire across known entry points.

That worked when we had squirrels in the attic in Louisiana, just make sure they are all out before sealing it up because rotting carcass smell in your house isn't a fun time.

marder disco den

I don't know why this made me laugh so hard, what a great image ^_^

It is baby-time for the Marder at the moment: not too long and it will get quieter, when mum chases out the young. IF what you hear are Marders...

Good luck with the closing up of holes - usually they´ll find their way back in.

It is a known fact, that if you kill the Marder that resides in your home, 4 new ones show up to fight over your house. Now THAT is noisy ;o)

The good part: as long as you have a Marder under your roof, you will not have mice...:oD

We co-exist with ours for years now - same game every year with the young. After a while of rampage you will hear two nights of screeming Marders - then the young will be gone and it gets silent.
