imhere - Please remember that the reason the prices are more expensive with AAFES is because they have to pay Germans to serve the food. Here, we pay Cubans to serve the food. Cubans cost less for labor. 

And let's not forget AAFES has to contend with the Rhine river......that's another reason for the increased costs apparently - all joking aside, believe it or not, that was actually an excuse offered to me by the manager when asked about costs!!

1. How does Vogelweh go to red road conditions while Ramstein stays amber??

2. Who makes the decision and how is it determined?

3. Is it a General who lives on base, probably gets his/her driveway plowed/shoveled immediately and never has to worry about being in the elements too long because he/she gets the best parking spots?

Regarding your comments to road conditions - I was rather suprised that Vogelweh was still Amber this morning when Ramstein and others around here were back to green. Guess those responsible in Vogelweh are less 'enthusiastic'?!

I've seen different road conditions when you're talking Baumholder and Ramstein because the weather can change drastically in that short distance, but Vogelweh and Ramstein?? I don't get it.

So while we are on the subject of road conditions here, perhaps someone can enlighten me with regard the whole "color scheme thing"?
Why exactly do military personnel need to have a color coded road warning system to realize the roads may be bad. Is it not somewhat apparent...if snow is on the ground, guess what, the roads may be a bit hazardous?
I find it slightly concerning that those who are to use firearms in their line of duty and profession are not potentially able to judge road conditions...or am I missing the point? 

@Thumper - I guess you haven't figured out yet that the military is the world's largest babysitting service for people who are supposed to be decision making adults.

A lot of what goes on truly amazes me. 

I fully understand that the military has to tell people what to do (as many of them wouldn't know otherwise), however when the RAB Facebook page posts the road information people actually comment and thank the poster as if to say "Oh wow, thanks for that info, I never would have realized" and they are being genuinely serious!

I laugh every time. But my church says to look at the road conditions. So, are people putting their faith in the hands of the Lord, or in the hands of the weather service? Bless you almighty snow gauge.

What's with all the doofuses asking about the phuckin' weather/road conditions on a facebook page? Are people that dumbed down that they can't figure out for themselves that if it's snowing, cold and ice on the streets (from the last snow) that driving/road conditions are not going to be the best?
