Anyone know anything about this area? Do you know anyone living in this part of town? Not the one near Darmstadt but Frankenstein (Pfalz).

Thanks in advance!

I haven't heard of Frankenstein in the Pfalz, but there is a village with a castle close to where I live called Falkenstein.

Been through it on the train about a million times. Having access to a train station is a plus. It's in the middle of the forest in a narrow valley...sort of picturesque but doesn't seem to get a lot of sun so it seems a bit dreary to me. I think there is still logging/paper mill activity out that way. Certainly wouldn't want a house on the main road due to traffic. Doesn't look like it has a lot of shops either but probably a grocery store and a couple bakeries and gasthauses. There is a castle ruin on a hill above town somewhere. Lots of hiking paths in the woods if you're into that. Long commute to Ramstein but would be OK if you worked at Kleber or somewhere else on the east side of KL.

Close to Sembach (drive-wise).

Thank you!

I've also been through there many, many times on the train to Mannheim. Lots of forests and walking trails. It's on or near the weinstrasse and there are castle ruins there. We drove by one yr while they were having their Christmas market and stopped. Took less than 5 mins to walk through and everyone starred at us. LOL. If you like country and want to live somewhere very German and away from little America, I think it's be a cozy, quiet little village to reside in. :)

If you have kids, this is a cool place to go that's near there. :)

Kurpfalz Park

I went to a bakery there last year. Some guy with bolts in his neck took my order. Just then, some guy all hunched over, dragging one leg brought out more bread. Okay, somebody had to say it. Don't boo!

That's the Bäckerei run by Frau Blücher. Their goods always seem to be over-baked :)
When we first moved here, we lived in Hochspeyer. If you're not only commuting to Kleber or Daenner, you'll be burning a lot of gas. The back way up to Sembach (B48) is maybe closer for commissary.
