Hey peeps,

please consider putting a tag on your dogs collar with at least a good cellphone number. There are a lot of dogs on the installations and it's hard to find the owner unless you take the dog to the vet clinic and have them look at the chip.
Better be safe then sorry :-) Y'all have a great day!

There's a good site here in Germany to register your pet with. It's called TASSO, and they'll send you a tag for the collar with a tracking number. (https://www.tasso.net/) You can plug the site into a translation page to enter the info easier.

I'd like to also highly recommend (from personal experience) German pet health insurance from Agila (http://www.agila.de/) They're VERY good, and it doesn't cost much at all. I do believe this site has an English page.`

Oh yeah, my dog is registered with TASSO with a microchip.. We originally got her from a Tierheim in Bruschal since the Ktown tierheim is prejudice and wont give any animals to Americans! But, we were able to register her microchip. Although she also has a collar with a good phone number on it..

The Tierhheim in Kaiserslautern is not prejudiced. They just care about the animals they adopt ouif needed for the rest of its life and be a point of contact in case of problems. If you move to the States and have a problem, you will most likely not call the Tierheim in K-town and not return the animal to them if needed. Also, they have had too many cases where the animal was left behind when people move.
They just care - that is all.

Implying that only Americans leave behind their animals is prejudice! When you treat a group of people with similar characteristics differently than everyone else, that is prejudice..
I know that bad things have happened in the past, but they are prejudice because they only focus on the Americans who abandon their animals and ignore it when a German does it. I find it hard to believe that all if not most of those animals in the Tierheim came from Americans because the American population there is in no way larger than the German population.
My dog was abandoned by a German owner and I know this because my dog doesnt understand much English to this day.. She is a sweet dog and I am glad I have her, but I wouldnt say that all Germans would abandon their dogs.
